KRAKEN

Once in a while, tales emerge. The story of the monster lurking below the surface of the Norwegian coasts is one such story. It was so feared that people didn’t even dare to mention it. The Kraken was known to bring danger, disaster, and destruction, crushing any obstacles in its way. Although the Kraken has become a myth, we still don’t know what lurks in the depths of the oceans. We aim to bring the memory of this gigantic ship-crushing creature into the spotlight again. The Kraken is our take on the ultimate powerhouse in amplification with 30,000 watts channeled onto a single PCB and a bass mono output. It sounds like describing insanity!

THE KRAKEN

Several years ago, generating 30,000 watts seemed implausible. Numerous large amplifiers had significance in history, but failed in comparison to the colossal power of this beast. The Architeuthis (a large deep-sea squid) was likened to the Kraken, but evidence suggests its predator is the sperm whale. Perhaps there is an additional predator lurking in the depths beside humans for this mythical creature.

The same destiny may apply to the amplifier. This is not a plaything for all, but an example of excessive wattage! It is truly regarded as a "big boy" amplifier, requiring substantial electrical power. Venturing into this realm carries individual risks. Even at 8 ohms, it goes beyond the 1-ohm power of what is considered strong in other amplifiers.

Therefore, the question arises: Are you willing to undertake the journey to discover the catastrophic power of the Kraken?

Kraken 30KW amplifier

STACKED QUADS

With four separate 1/0 gauge power and ground terminals, the 30,000-watt output demands maximum wire capacity. The amplifier's 2500A peak current draw is not to be underestimated.
A lithium battery bank of 500A is reasonable, given the potential of the system. The operational voltage of 9.5V to 16V accommodates most electrical configurations, including LTO banks.

CONFIGURATION

We chose to focus on the intended main application. It is not our idea to connect a ludicrous amount of full-range speakers to the Kraken. Many others have their take on 20kW+ amplifiers based on full bridge circuits, most of which are full-range and emit excessive ground noise, especially when idle. Therefore, instead of skimping on filtration components in the audio section, we made the clear choice for the Kraken to meet the expectations of a usable competition amplifier. Configuring for a frequency response of 10 Hz ~ 200 Hz led to a cleaner audio output that focuses on the lower frequencies with less need to lower the floor of the other amplifiers in your setup.
