MOVING UP ON AN ELITE
The RAMPAGE line, ranging from 8″ to 15″, created a high expectation for the 18″ model, which necessitated the development of an entirely new platform to complete the series. This basket integrates both the OCAF and SAFT features present in previous designs while also accommodating future applications that may require the flexibility of utilizing spiders of varying sizes for precise suspension adjustments. The 18″ RAMPAGE ELITE serves as the foundational platform for the subsequent version of the X2C subwoofer line; however, the RAMPAGE ELITE employs a 4″ coil configuration, exceeding the performance specifications of the X2C introduced in 2013.
This innovative basket design significantly improves cooling efficiency through the implementation of advanced SAFT (Smooth Air Flow Technology) and OCAF (Optimum Cooling And Flow).Â
THE FUTURE IS NOW
The latest version of the RAMPAGE ELITE 18 has been meticulously engineered to meet the rigorous demands of low-frequency reproduction with remarkable efficiency. The 315 mm / 12.4″ quad-layer full NOMEX spiders with progressive rolls ensure accurate bass response while minimizing mechanical distortion. For future iterations or larger coil configurations, we could be offering a spider suspension size of up to 14.5″.
The implementation of quad Y35 slugs, in contrast to the previous triple slug design utilized in the standard RAMPAGE, significantly improves the motor’s performance. These slugs are now securely fastened through the backplate to the modified, elevated top plate, enhancing stability and reducing the likelihood of displacement. With a motor assembly weight of 1400 oz, this model represents the pinnacle of the RAMPAGE series.
2024 also marks the inaugural revision of the ELITES. The surround height has been increased by nearly 15%, thereby alleviating mechanical strain when operating at the limits, which results in improved audio response due to reduced distortion.
Maintaining the MMS similar to the prior model has been accomplished through the use of full carbon fiber cones and dust caps, ensuring that the T/S parameters remain compliant with specified tolerances.
