RIOT13000 – THE POWERFUL COMPACT
Another welcomed addition to the RIOT amplifier has arrived. Compact, yet very capable. Incorporating the latest upgraded fullbridge tech in the RIOT series. The RIOT13000 is nearly the same size, as the beloved first edition of the 7500. The protection circuitry is revised with a clip limiter for cleaner power and swifter protection sensor.
KEEPING IT FED
Even though it isn’t much larger than its smaller sibling, don’t forget to upgrade the electrical system. 750 Amps of curent isn’t childs play.
So don’t mistake the small dimensions for hyped up boosted numbers. The amplifier follows the general rule of “Don’t cheapen on your electrical, buying the biggest amp you can to save some money”. This is the major reason for these amps to blow up. Well, coupled along with a too low impedance load, which again causes even larger current drain. Plan adequately before entering the big boy league of amps. It is critical that you have the proper power capacity.
ENTERING 10K’S
10.000 watts, from a 420 mm (16.5″) footprint is milestones ahead of the traditional half-bridge designs. It wasn’t long ago that you needed 1000 mm (yes, over 3ft) to even get near that level of performance. Thus, your car’s size had to be taken into consideration, before purchasing such amplifiers.
With the small size of the RIOT13000, it might be tempting to stick the amplifier to the enclosure or any other place, prone to vibration. That is NOT advisable at all. The circuit uses SMD devices, mounted by machines due to its small size, which helps reducing the overall footprint. But that also means surface mount parts aren’t soldered through the pcb, but mounted on top, just like your pc’s are. Excessive vibration can & will be the death of your amplifier in the long run!
However, mounted correctly with plenty of ventilation at a stable surface, will give you that belowed 10.000 watts. Even though it should be common knowledge by now, the fullbridge amps are not strapable. Basically because they are already bridged internally. Due to the output inductor circuit design of the RIOT 13000, (optimized for greater power), it is not recommended to power up the amplifier WITHOUT a load on the speaker terminals. Failure to doing so could potentially cause a circuit malfunction which will leave the amplifier stuck in protect.
